Step 1: Site Survey and Engineering Your System

The moment we receive your order, we schedule a time for our site surveyor to visit your property within a day or so. Typically, you do not need to be home for this, unless we are installing something inside the home. Upon arrival, we inspect your roof, conduct a shade analysis in the locations where the system will be installed, take photos of your electrical service panel, and confirm all the measurements we need to finalize your system’s optimal design.

We take the information gathered and share it with our engineering team. It takes them about two weeks to analyze all the documents and provide us with fully engineered, completed plans ready for your approval. We are happy to go through any details to ensure that you understand any modifications that had to be made to the original design based on our site survey results. Our goal is to make sure you are completely satisfied and know exactly what to expect when the system is up and running.

Step 2: Obtaining a Permit and Installing Your System

Upon your approval, we submit these plans, along with other project documents, to the City Permitting Department and your HOA, if you have one. This approval process can take between two to four weeks depending on their workload, but we do our best to follow up with the appropriate contacts at these departments to expedite your project. Once approved, we are ready to begin the installation.

All of our installs are performed by our trained installers, not third-party contractors. Our installers are given Solar Topps trucks that are fully loaded with all the tools and equipment they need to get your installation done right, the first time. Most installations take one to two days to complete. Because we have an onsite warehouse with a surplus of supplies, we can get started faster than other competitors who need to wait for your parts to be shipped either to them or your home. Therefore, when we get the necessary approvals, we can immediately place you on our installation schedule minimizing any downtime.

Step 3: Inspect the Installation and Turning Your System On

Once your system is installed, temporarily tested by our team to ensure no faults, and passes our internal quality check, the appropriate documentation is sent to the City and the Utility for inspection approval. Inspection approvals can take between two to three weeks. Once again, we work closely with them to expedite your project through the process.

Once inspections are approved, the Utility company will set a date to switch your utility meter to make it solar compatible. This process can take an additional two to three weeks, but once done, you are ready to have your system turned on.
